Andrew Eastman, FSA, MAAA

Senior Consulting Actuary

 

Andy began his work as a consultant at ARC in 2000.  Since that time he has worked on a broad range of consultancy projects across many actuarial disciplines including pricing, financial reporting and cash flow testing for life insurance and annuity business.  

 

Andy works closely with clients and the development staff at ARC to keep the ARCVAL software current with the continually evolving world of life and annuity business.  He has played a key role in the ongoing development of the ARCVAL index annuity reserving functionality insuring that the ARCVAL software continues to meet the needs of its clients that have index annuity business.

Andy’s background includes working in a variety of positions with insurance companies and working with the American Academy of Actuaries as part of the Variable Annuity Reserve Work Group in the development of AG 43 VACARVM.

 

Outside of the office, Andy lives to challenge himself with his latest rock climbing project.   He is passionate about the great outdoors and you are as likely to find him hanging from a cliff in Arkansas as you are to find him deep in a canyon in Utah.  In his down time he is an avid reader and enjoys being part of his book club.

 

Recent Experience

  • Cash Flow Testing and Asset Adequacy Testing using Prophet.

  • Worked on development of Economic Capital, MCEV and C3 Phase 1 ALM models in Prophet.

  • AG 43 valuation for VA blocks.

  • Working with clients and development staff to enhance ARCVAL index annuity statutory reserve calculations to reflect new product features.

  • Working with clients and development staff to enhance ARCVAL FAS 133 reserve calculations and develop a FAS 133 roll forward process

  • Statutory and GAAP conversions of universal life and annuity business to ARCVAL and Prophet.

  • Developed FAS 97 capabilities within Prophet models including FAS 97 report templates and a history update process.
